Bronson leads research initiatives that improve TIR’s effectiveness in gathering and analyzing forest data and making forest management decisions. He also provides biometric research support exclusively to the firm. In this role, he leads research initiatives that improve TIR’s effectiveness in gathering and analyzing forest data and making forest management decisions.
Bronson’s research focus includes improving inventory methods (including the application of Geographic Information Systems and remote sensing), regional growth and yield modeling, and forest management techniques that improve timber production and reduce operating costs. Bronson has authored numerous peer-reviewed academic articles and dozens of academic reports, proceedings and abstracts. He is an Associate Editor of Forest Measurements for the Southern Journal of Applied Forestry and a reviewer for a number of scholarly journals, including Forest Science, The Canadian Journal of Forest Research, The Northern Journal of Applied Forestry, The Journal of Forestry, and Environmental and Ecological Statistics. Bronson earned a Ph.D. in Forest Biometrics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech); MS degrees in Statistics and Biometrics, also at Virginia Tech; and, a BS in Natural Resource Management at Rutgers University. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forest Resources and previously taught at North Carolina State University.
