Manages TIR’s Geographic Information System

Projects value growth potential of forest assets

Identifies ways to optimize growth through silvicultural enhancement strategies

Miles joined TIR in 2018. His work focuses on harvest scheduling for clients’ portfolios. This entails conducting optimization modeling for each forest asset to determine and project its value growth potential and to identify ways to optimize and enhance that growth through the application of silvicultural strategies. In this capacity, he also manages the firm’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and assists with decision support.

Prior to joining TIR, Miles was a Resource and Planning Forester with Weyerhaeuser (previously Plum Creek Timber) in Greensboro, Georgia, where his work focused on harvest scheduling, forest planning and timber inventory management and analytics. He also had responsibility for supervising timber sales processes, managing relationships with loggers and other ground-level contractors, and overseeing forest road construction and maintenance projects. Miles began his career in West Virginia as a Field Forester with MeadWestvaco, where his responsibilities focused on timber marketing and sales management. Miles grew up in Statesboro, Georgia, where his family farms cotton and peanuts. He earned a BS in Forest Management at the University of Georgia and holds an MS in Industrial Forestry Operations from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
