Leads TIR’s Forest Management Team

Oversees TIR forest management policy

Cory leads TIR’s Forest Management Team. This entails directing and supporting the firm’s Senior Investment Foresters, who manage the day-to-day operation of clients’ working forest assets. He and this team also play key roles in TIR’s transaction management and forest values monetization process. In this capacity, Cory also oversees forest management policy for the firm.

Prior to assuming his current role, he served as TIR’s Senior Investment Forester in the Eastern Region. In that capacity, he directed land planning, timber productivity and marketing initiatives, and regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship for an operating area that stretched from Virginia to South Carolina. He also managed the region’s recreational lease program; participated in acquisition sourcing due diligence efforts; and, played a key role in various portfolio management activities. He also previously led TIR’s harvest scheduling efforts – an important function that supports the portfolio-level budgeting process as well as the firm’s property and portfolio investment modeling efforts. During his tenure as a Senior Investment Forester, Cory also was heavily involved in the development of TIR’s renewable energy strategies. He joined TIR in 2012 to provide decision support to the Forest Management Team and later was promoted and became involved in portfolio analysis – working closely with TIR’s Finance and Accounting Team. In that role, he used a variety of sophisticated business intelligence tools to develop analytics and insights in support of the firm’s portfolio and property-level investment decision making. This included performing acquisition analyses and conducting harvest optimization modeling as well as hold/sell modeling for timber and tract sales. Cory earned BS and MS degrees in Forest Resource Management at the University of Georgia. He holds the Certified Forester designation from the Society of American Foresters and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
